January 2014: Welcome Letter

In January 2014, Welcome Messages from Adam Cufr by Adam Cufr

Welcome to the January Edition of The Ultimate Guide For the Successful Steward, Fourth Dimension Financial Group’s newsletter.

It’s a Level Three snow emergency as I write this. It’s well below Zero and I think there is nearly two feet of snow outside my window!

We add a new member to the family during Snowmageddon 2014.

At times like these, whether through Facebook, Twitter, email, or even through an old-fashioned phone call, you may have noticed that everyone seemed to enjoy talking about the winter storm. There’s always the “it’s so beautiful” camp of people and then there are the complainers. Perhaps we all find ourselves on either side of the issue depending on whether we’re off sledding or stuck shoveling. But, no matter which side you find yourself, what I like about this type of event is that we all share the experience.

Let me explain…
… When I was a kid, we built our week around TV shows and events. It wasn’t a Thursday night if you weren’t watching a show like Cheers or The Cosby Show. We set our calendars and our lives according to TV Guide. If we missed the shows, we missed out on the discussion the next day, and that was unacceptable.

The world we live in now is so fragmented. Thanks to the on-demand nature of the internet and 500 channels on TV, it’s extremely rare that someone has watched the same show as you at the same time. As a result, we have very few experiences in common to share. When a big snow storm hits, we get to re-enter the bigger world of “us.” Once again, we’re together, living in a single shared experience. Just admit it, we love being part of something bigger than ourselves.

I hope you’ll consider the New Year as an opportunity to think bigger and engage in more shared experiences. I’ll be the first to admit that I miss a more connected world. I miss “us.”

This month one of my goals is to draw “us” together as we think bigger and holistically. Specifically, we’ll consider how a holistic planning approach may create greater total value for your financial assets. It seems that by avoiding the quick decision to choose either “this” or “that” we open ourselves up to a much bigger world of opportunity. Later I’ll seek to pull us all together do discuss something we are all somewhat familiar with: The Four Dimension Review Process.

As an unrelated reminder, the Book Launch Event is right around the corner at the Clazel Theatre on January 24th. Please do not miss this awesome event. If you are reading this, I would be honored if you would attend. A lot of time and effort have been put into the planning and we’re sure you’ll have a great time. Besides, what a fun way to “get connected,” to “share in a common experience.”

Thanks again for being part of this Steward community. Without you, it’s just me. And if it’s only me, I may have to declare a Level Three emergency of another sort. Please stay warm and stay connected.

To your success,
