In the 173 Weekly Newsletters I’ve written and shared with you, there have been only a few occasions where I’ve asked for anything from you. I prefer to give rather than receive, so it suits me well to do what I can to add value through my musings, whether financial or personal in nature. And while I could argue that I’m asking you to take some action here this week, it’s really for the benefit of others, so I’m okay doing it. Allow me to explain.
At the beginning of 2014, my book, OFF THE RECORD – Secrets to Building a Successful Retirement and a Lasting Legacy, was released. In it, I did my best to make a complex topic like retirement planning as approachable and relatable as possible by building it around my 30+ years of musical training and performing experiences. And I have to say that it’s been a very effective means to generate meaningful dialogue with those who aspire to retire well. In fact, one person came into our office a few years ago and said, “That bucketing thing on page 99, I want that.” It was really fun to see him articulate what it was that he was looking for in such a direct way.
Well, rather than author a new book (remember, six kids!) I chose to update the original book instead. In fact, we just received a box of OFF THE RECORD– Updated 2018copies in our office, complete with the new family picture!
Here’s what I’d love for you to consider. Will you think of two people who may appreciate receiving from you a FREE copy of the updated book? The way I figure it, these books only do their job if they’re out in the world, in the hands of people who would actually like to retire successfully and build a lasting legacy. On our shelf, they are of no value. And who better to know who might benefit from the book than you; their friend, family, coworker, or pickleball nemesis?
Typically, we do our best work for people who are 55-75 years old, nearing retirement or recently retired, and interested in a comprehensive plan for their financial life rather than product pitches or hot tips. I guess these are people probably a lot like you.
So next week, I’ll get back to sharing thoughts that range from Kansas-concert-with-my-daughter stories to the antidote to a stressful retirement. But this week, will you please consider helping these books find the right readers?
Instructions:
1. Send us their names and mailing addresses (simply reply to this email) and we’ll mail them out with a note that you thought they might find the book valuable; or
2. Let us know that you’d like them mailed to your home and you’ll take care of the rest
Just two. Your willingness to take on this arduous task (of hitting reply to this email!) is very much appreciated by me and very likely by the recipients as well. After all, you found us, but how will they?
All the best,
Adam Cufr, RICP®
