Back to the Very Very Basics

In Back to the Basics, March 2014 by Adam Cufr

Hi all! This is Will Wegert. If you’ve never met me before, don’t worry. That is somewhat intentional. Why? Because my role in Fourth Dimension is to be the background “Client Communications Support.” In essence, I do better at my job when I know as little as possible about the nitty-gritty of financial planning and thus act as a great sounding board for Adam as he works on new ideas, articles, blogs and presentations. This helps him communicate better by simplifying his message for non-financial experts like you and me.

I guess what all that means is that when it comes to sharing only the VERY VERY basics, I’m your guy. Knowing and communicating the basics is at the core of my work for Fourth Dimension.

So, what are the VERY VERY basics? I think they can be organized into three key categories: Who we are, what we do, and why we do it.

  1. Who are we?
We are a firm focused on helping you transition to and sustain a successful retirement. WE’RE ALL ABOUT HELPING YOU CREATE AND SUSTAIN A SUCCESSFUL RETIREMENT!

That’s who we are at our very core. We’re not about life insurance, we’re not about wealth accumulation, we’re not about annuities, stocks or investment trading, and you could even make the argument that we’re not even about financial planning! How can we say that? Well, because while all of those are tools we use, our single purpose is: To help you transition to and sustain a successful retirement.

  2. What do we do?
We technically ”do” lots of things. Just to name a few:
    a.  We do: Four Dimension Reviews (income planning, minimize tax costs, analyze and minimize investment fees, direct you on your estate planning)
    b.  We provide general financial and retirement-related training (OFF THE RECORD retirement book, workshops, lunch and learns, newsletters, quarterly events, email newsletters, etc.)
So yes, those are all some daily tasks that fill up our calendar, and I don’t mean to beat a dead horse here, but what do we really do? We help successful stewards transition to and sustain a successful retirement.
  3. Why do we do it?
This is my favorite part. It’s the “why factor” that ties it all together.

See, to us this company is so much more than just another financial firm (hopefully you got that already from the two points above). We’re more than just a company that transitions retirees and sustains successful retirements (sorry, last time, I promise). We have a truly meaningful purpose that extends far beyond ourselves: Our goal is to serve you in a way that helps you achieve enough and live fully, which will then enable you to serve your community in a similar way! That’s why stories like those of Roland and Celeste (see article, ““Retirees” Find New Mission in DOVE Fund) are so powerful for us – it means we are truly accomplishing our mission by helping you to accomplish yours!

Great! I truly get it: Now what?
Okay, to wrap things up here, let me share with you some specific actions I would ask you to take.

  1. If you have never met with Adam, would you consider doing so? There is no doubt in my mind that he’s one of the best in the industry. But why take my word for it – he’s right in the midst of our Evening Sessions series, a great opportunity to meet him in a no-pressure setting to learn with others – see below for more information or to RSVP for one of these FREE in-office evening sessions. Then, if you do want to sit down with him personally, he also offers a free, no-obligation Four Dimension Review consultation.
  2. If you have met with Adam, and still have questions, set up another time to meet! If there is one thing I know, it’s that Adam is a guy that does his best to leave no stone unturned. If you didn’t get all your questions answered – why not sit down with him again?
  3. If you have met with Adam and are fully satisfied, have you shared the opportunity with others? Again, forgive the bluntness, but trustworthy financial advisors are hard enough to find, much less ones who are focused exclusively on retirement! If you feel as though Adam has helped you create a successful retirement – why keep that opportunity to yourself? It’s not pushy on your part – it’s the right thing to do!

Thanks guys – ‘til next time.
– Will
